Cotton Care

Stains happen, but they don't have to be permanent. Quick action is key to successful stain removal from cotton fabric. For grease stains, sprinkle baking soda and let it sit for 15 minutes to absorb the oil.

For wine or juice stains, blot with cold water immediately and use white vinegar as a natural cleaner. Coffee and tea stains respond well to a mixture of water and oxygen-based bleach. For ink stains, dab with rubbing alcohol using a white cloth.

Blood stains should be treated with cold water only—hot water sets the stain permanently. For mud stains, let the mud dry completely, then brush off before washing. Always treat stains from the back of the fabric to push the stain out rather than further in.

Test any cleaning solution on a hidden area first. Never put a stained garment in the dryer until the stain is completely removed. For stubborn stains, soak in a solution of water and mild detergent for several hours.
